MLS 2017 Starts With Two New FC’s
This March, the new 2017 MLS soccer season kicked off with two new teams Minnesota United FC and Atlanta United FC. These two teams make the MLS teams count to 22, adding one team from both Eastern and Western conference. With their inclusion, MLS will become more interesting and challenging compared to last season.
Atlanta United FC, coached by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, started their MLS campaign with a home match against New York Red Bulls. However, it did not go well for Minnesota fans as they lost the match 2-1. Asad gave Atlanta an advantage by scoring a goal in the 25th minute. But NY Red Bulls dominated the second half and scored two goals at 76 and 82 minutes by Royer and Walkes respectively. Although the stats show that Atlanta had more ball possession in the match, it was the goal by Walkes that kicked them out of the match.
Minnesota United FC, coached by Adrian Heath, played away their first match with Portland Timbers and ends it, loosing terribly by conceding 5 goals. The match started well for Minnesota and the first half was competitive with only one goal from Olum of Portland. But here comes the action-packed second half. Within 2 minutes of the second half, Valeri scored one more goal for Portland. At 79th minute, Ramirez scored a goal for Minnesota, trying to have that come back and win the match.
But after that, Valeri immediately scored one more goal from penalty. Minnesota lost all their hopes of winning the match. The two extra time goals from Fernando Adi proved fatal for Minnesota and conceded total 5 goals in the opening of the MLS season.
Last Sunday, Minnesota hosted Atlanta for the first meeting of this two new teams and their first home match. However, the match did not go as planned for them and they lost terribly by 6 goals. The show had started somewhat wrong for Minnesota as they conceded 2 goals only within 13 minutes. To make things worse, Minnesota conceded one more goal within 30 min. By the end of first half, Kevin Molino scored the first goal for their team and kept the hopes alive for Minnesota fans.
In the second half, Atlanta hardly saw any protest from Minnesota and scored 3 goals. With a trick of a hat, Ramirez becomes the top goal scorer in the MLS for the time being. The team showed aggressive attacks throughout the match. The five goals from Ramirez and Almiron have sent some chills among the defenders of other MLS teams.
Atlanta’s teamwork, combination at play and confidence of was also very much noticeable.
With such unfortunate show, Minnesota is now in the bottom position and become the first team in MLS to concede 5 goals in back to back matches. To make things worse, Minnesota goalkeeper John Alvbage had a serious leg injury, carried out by stretcher and had to be replaced at the 86th minute of the game.
Next weekend, Atlanta will play their home match against Chicago Fire while Minnesota will face Colorado Rapids. MLS 2017 Starts With Two New FC’s, who will dominate?

Seattle Sounders MLS Cup Champs 2016

Seattle Sounders MLS Cup Champs 2016, and what a battle it was.

Seattle Sounders have defeated Toronto FC with 5 goals over 4 in penalties after a scoreless play for 120 minutes in a frigid and extreme setting. Toronto fans would not believe how the group won the 2016 cup because they have given poor performances in the mid-part of August. When there was a coaching change until the playoffs, they have performed more eagerly and positively.

The group they have defeated in the Cup outplayed them for the most part of the soccer league. As a matter of fact, they have struggled a lot to make a perfect and amazing single shot. Nevertheless, they have given Toronto FC a challenging game because they have performed a resilient defence. With the help from Stefan Frei, the goal keeper, they have caused headaches to their opponents. Frei has given a fine work for a lunging and a one-handed save during overtime.

Even though they have performed behind their coaches’ expectations during the entire competition, they have prevailed against their strong opponents who only missed one penalty kick out of 6 chances. Unluckily, they missed two. That is why they have defeated Toronto FC with great resilience and determination. Though their performance appeared inferior, their fighting spirit and trust with each other are some of the reasons why they won.

The first part of the game became more physical. However, Toronto have dominated because they were also resolute to win their first MLS league championship. During the 15th minute of the game, Sebastian Giovinco, the star forward, effectively played the ball that has given Altidore the chance to assist Jonathan Osorio to make a shot. But, Stefan Frei made a great save. After 30 minutes of a competitive game, Justine Morrow crossed again to set up for Altidore but Frei performed an excellent defence.

Toronto FC was very conscientious to minimize Nicolas Lodeiro’s influence to his entire team, Seattle Sounders. At first, they were successful but the 2016 champions frustrated their opponent with an extraordinary defence with a spectacular performance from Roman Torres, the central defender. Since both weary teams did not have scores, they have settled a shootout. Seattle Sounders got 5 while Toronto FC got 4 to win their first MLS cup.

Because of the team’s success, Roman Torres and Stefan Frei were mobbed by their entire teammates. They were applauded and admired by many spectators who were present in the BMO Field. Colorado Rapids and Montreal Impact were also part of the MLS final four. But in the end, Seattle Sounders MLS Cup Champs 2016, and now we move on to EPL. MLS 2016 Is Heating Up And History

nycfc-vs-toronto-fcMLS 2016 is heating up
and this year MLS playoffs has 8 teams left such as Colorado Rapids, NY RedBulls, NYCFC, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC and Montreal Impact. There is one more game left in this 8 team tournament until we have 4 teams left.
Who is playing well?
Toronto and Montreal are both playing really well. Could we see an ALL Canada MLS East Championship?
However, soccer news recalls that the league has made great achievements since its inception in the year 1993. Its inaugural season began in 1995 and soccer news stirred around the new formation of teams, event location and new players. In the year 1996, the soccer news conveyed the League’s first spring training and first player. As the attendance continuous to raise, the ESPN television network started to televised soccer news and this is one of the reasons why its popularity ascended throughout the nation. During this year, more soccer news reports and members of the media began covering MLS events.
Supporters turned out in large fashion to catch a glimpse of their favorite players and teams. In the year 1998, MLS underwent its initial expansion season, which meant big changes for the League. With the addition of two teams, which brought the club count from its original 10 to the 12, soccer news introduced the newest League members as Miami and Chicago. Both teams proved powerful during their first year as they advanced to the playoffs. The following year, Columbus Crew Stadium officially opened as the first major league stadium in the United States of America that was constructed specifically for soccer.
Its presence paid off as thousands of fans packed the house to watch featured competitions. In the year 2002, MLS removed two of their 12 clubs from the roster and once again returned to 10 teams. Miami and Tampa Bay were no longer League teams, but were replaced in 2004 with other expansion teams. Club Deportivo Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake joined the League and brought the club number back up to its current 12 teams. The clubs of MLS consist of international and domestic competitors. With a varied roster, players are constantly being featured in soccer news magazines, soccer news televised interviews and programs. MLS continues to gain in popularity in the United States of America and around the world.
Major soccer news coverage, exciting competitions and cheering fans are among the many indications that MLS is here to stay. Soccer shows no signs of slowing down throughout the world. Its growth in terms of both recreational plays and professional teams promise to continue and prosper.  An estimated of 3 million fans watched the playoffs that year. Portland Timbers 2015 MLS Cup Winners

Timbers VS The Crew MLS Cup  Portland Timbers 2015 MLS Cup Winners,

after beating the Columbus Crew 2-1

in an exciting end to end battle for the cup.

The Timbers almost didn’t make the playoffs

this year, but an end of year push put their

15-11-8 record into the top 6 of the West

and into a head on collision course with the Columbus Crew who also finished 15-11-8. Only difference,

goal differential, Crew had a plus 5 and the Timbers only had a plus 2. The Crew have second highest

MLS goal scorer in Kei Kamara, but the Timbers have Diego Valeri, who put in the fastest MLS cup

goal at only 27 seconds into the match. Stage set, Timber dominate the first 15 minutes. At the 6:30

minute mark Lucas Melano picks out Rodney Wallace for a diving header to put Timbers up 2-0 with

less than 7 minutes gone by. Crew shell shocked, gather themselves by the 17th minute, when

pressure on the Timbers Goalie Adam Kwarasey puts the defense into a bad spot and the top

goal scorer for the Crew steps up and pulls one back with a turn around goal putting the match

at 2-1 now. From 18th minute till the 95th minute it was back and forth defensive battle with

Nat Borchers, Adam Ridgewell, Alvas Powell, and Jorge Villafana holding the Crew scoreless

in front of Kwarasey. Coach Caleb Porter had them all playing at top notch championship level

for the last 11 matches, hats off to da coach.

The Timbers pressed all game, 60th minute, corner kick to Wallace, almost goal, 70th minute,

Adi header, almost goal, 80th minute Borchers header, almost goal within inches. The 3D midfielders

Darlington, and the two Diego’s (Chara and Valeri) for the Timbers moved the ball from box to box

setting up the consent pressure on the Crew. What a great year for Will Johnson, Jack Jewsbury,

Fanendo Adi, Max Urruti, and the whole Timbers players and staff for a huge first time MLS Cup win.

The Crew had a great year knocking off the Supporter Sheild winners NY Red Bulls to advance to the

final, so heads high great footballers Ethan Finlay, Federico Higuain, Jack McInerney, Will Trapp,

Tony Tchani, Justin Meram and the whole Crew team, next year can be your year.

MLS In Final 4 Playoffs And Abby Wambach Retires

MLS playoffs 2015   MLS in final 4 playoffs and Abby Wambach retires after a remarkable

career as one of soccer/football’s greatest players ever.

Google the word Abby, what comes up in the first three?  Wambach will change women’s

professional football like Pele did in the 1970’s. The number of goals scored by this unbelievable player

totals to 184.  Most goals scored by any US male or female player to date. Six time US Athlete of

the year, Two Olympic Gold Medals, One World Cup Championship, One FIFA World Player of the year,

and in 2015 named to Time Magazine 100 most influential people in the world, just to name “some” of

the awards this great player has bought in for the US. A Florida Gator player that won them a national

title, ruled the international game for over 14 years and now is taking that winning energy to the board room.

Watch out Corporate America…

2015 MLS Playoffs are on their way, Sporting KC, Toronto FC, LA Galaxy, and New England Rev’s

all made it in the first round but fell to their opponents in a one game playoff. Montreal Impact,

Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders and DC United all moved on to meet up with the MLS best regular

seasons records NY Red Bulls, FC Dallas, Vancouver Whitecaps, and the Columbus Crew for a two

game aggregate playoff. Red Bulls handled DC United 2-0 to move on, Timbers downed the Whitecaps

2-0, Columbus just got by Montreal 4-3 in exciting matches, but FC Dallas just barely beat the

Sounders in penalty kicks to move on to THE Final FOUR.

Nov 22nd RedBulls take on Columbus Crew 5pm EST and Timbers take on FC Dallas, on the 29th of

Nov all four teams play their final match to see what two teams play for the MLS Cup Dec 6th.

MLS In Final 4 Playoffs and Abby Wambach retires, Goodluck Abby,

thanks for what you did in US Soccer / Football.

NWSL Champions And The Victory Tour Moves On

KC Score 2015 ChampionsNWSL Champions and the victory tour moves on as

women’s soccer grows in fan base across the country.

FC KC claim their second title in two years with a 1-0 victory

over Seattle Reign Oct 1st in Portland OR for the NWSL

championship. Nicole Barnhart and the KC team defense

dialed up a shutout against the number one team in wins

for the 2015 NWSL regular season, what a strong way to end it.

Amy Rodriguez knocked in the only goal, just passed Hope Solo, from a great placed cross

from Heather O’Reilly who received a nice through ball from Lauren Holiday just seconds

earlier. Both teams battled all game up and down the pitch. Seattle had a 70th minute blown

call for a possible pk but the ref must have been out of position. Megan Rapinoe rattled the post

with a nice shot in the second half. Give credit to the head coach Vlatko Andonovski,  his staff set up

a great team defense model to shut down Kim Little and the high powered Seattle Reign. Many great

players on both sides, and many small battles, Solo vs Barnhart, Holiday vs Rapinoe, Rodriguez vs

Barnes, Sauerbunn vs Little, and Coach Laura vs Coach Vlatko. Evenly matched clubs, flip a coin

and you’ll pick a winner 55/45 after 100 flips, it’s only inches in a championship game. The 2015 NWSL

season ends with many awards given out and many reflections of highlights of each club across the

country as they all now get ready for 2016. Golden Boot award goes to Crystal Dunn of the Washington

Spirit being the top goal scorer for the 2015 season. Becky Sauerbunn from FCKC got the defender of

the year award. Michele Betos of the Portland Thorns got the best goalie award. Danielle Colaprico of

the Chicago Red Stars got the rookie of the year award. Seattle’s Laura Harvey pulled in the Coach of

the year award and the Reign received the “supporters shield” having the best record in the league.

The US Women’s Soccer Team Continues It’s Victory Tour Across The USA.

Last two victories came against the Haiti national team who subbed in when

the Australian national team had to cancel after making the commitment to come

play in these two friendlies during Sept of 2015 schedule. Haiti was no match for the

number one team in the world, with to losses to the US by 5-0 shutout in Detroit MI,

followed by a 8-0 shutout in Birmingham AL. Carli Lloyd, Crystal Dunn, Heather O’Reilly,

Amy Rodriguez, Alex Morgan and Christen Press put on an offense show of power and quickness

to keep the crowds cheering for the 2015 World Cup Champs. Defense saw little challenges

Hope Solo, Becky Sauerbunn, Meghan Klingenberg, Ali Krieger, Julie Johnston(who got a goal)

Tobin Heath, Lauren Holiday, Whitney Engen, Kelley O’Hara, Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach,

Lori Chalupny, Morgan Brian and Christie Rampone all had great matches sharping their skills

verses a young Haiti team.  Thanks Haiti for stepping up.

moves on as women’s soccer grows in fan base

across the country. Watch the videos below

NWSL Playoffs Are Here

Chicago RedStars FC  NWSL playoffs are here and teams/fans are excited.

After an exciting 2015 campaign during a World Cup

year, the women are ready to crown another

champion. After FC Kansas City won it last year and

Seattle Reign won it two years ago, the third season is about to end on a high note.

The Chicago Red Stars are on a mission to be

the best here in 2015, but the Washington Spirit

with Golden Boot winner Crystal Dunn might have something to say about that. The great thing is,

all soccer fans get to enjoy this top notch competition, and see football at it’s finest right here in the

US. Chicago’s head coach Rory Dames says his “team is ready to go”, after playing the Houston Dash

to a 1-1 draw Sunday Sept 6th in Toyota Park. Christen Press late goal from an assist off the head of

Julie Johnston, saved the momentum from a late year loss to a draw and positive energy flowing to

Sundays rematch with FC Kansas City. Coach Vlatko Andonovski has FC KC ready to come into

Chicago with Amy Rodriguez on fire right now with two goals and one assist in their last match

of the year. This will a great match with both teams only one point from each other in the standings,

also a nice mix of World Cup champs with Heather O’Reilly, Lauren Holiday, Becky Sauerbrunn,

along with Rodriguez to play against the Red Stars with Christen Press, Julie Johnston, and Lori

Chalupny. The Red Stars are showing amazing young talented first year players, but the whole

team is solid from top to bottom. Goalie Karina LeBlanc, just announced her retirement, and goalie

Michele Dalton both had a great 2015 season. Defenders Arin Gilliland, Abby Erceg, Julie Johnston,

Michelle Lomnicki, Samatha Johnson, Taryn Hemmings and Rachel Quon all are very tough to beat.

Excellent midfielders Danielle Colaprico, Vanessa DiBernardo, Lori Chalupny, Mary Luba, Zakiya

Bywaters, and Alyssa Mautz keep the possession and passing alive. The speed and striking proof

comes from  Adriana Leon, Jen Hoy, Christen Press, Sofia Huerta, Cara Wells, and Melissa Tancredi

who all put the Red Stars into the playoffs. Seattle Reign get to host the Washington Spirit next Sunday

the 13th, with Seattle pulling in 43 points for the 2015 season earns them NWSL Shield award for most

points in the season. Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, Kim Little, and Lauren Barnes from Seattle will

all have to slow down the Spirit’s Crystal Dunn and her supporting cast strong players Ali Krieger,

Megan Oyster, and Spirit goalie Ashlyn Harris will be ready for the mighty Reign of Seattle.

Good luck Laura Harvey head coach of Seattle and Mark Parsons of Washington’s head coach.

2016 is right around the corner, look out for Houston Dash, Portland Thorns FC, Western NY

Flash, BlueSky FC, and Boston Breakers all look to be in the playoffs next year, and everything can change in a year.

NWSL playoffs are here, go out and support it, it will be exciting football.

MLS All Stars Win Helps US Forget About Gold Cup

MLS All Star Game 2015  MLS All Stars win helps US forget about Gold Cup and the disaster

of the US men’s team trying to find their stride.

On July 29th in Commerce City Colorado, before a packed crowd of over 19,000,

to watch the 2015 MLS All Stars take on an

English Premier League favorite Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have been playing some preseason

matches here in the states and were a good match for our MLS band of rag tags. The MLS held

their own in the first half, with many good chances and Kaka making things happen for the MLS.

David Villa was magical with a great corner kick that ended in a PK for the MLS, then taking on a

well struck cross from Kaka, Villa redirected it into the back of the net for a 2 – 0 lead for MLS only 30

minutes into the match. Nick Rimando was the real man of the match this night, I know people

love giving it to offensive style of players, but Rimando stood on his head to use a hockey term.

Three huge saves from Rimando and many more he made look easy, but Rimando kept Harry Kane

and a well-balanced Spurs team out of the net til 37th minute, when Matt Besler fell down and Harry

Kane unleashed a rocket that most keepers won’t have even touched. Second half was mostly Spurs

controlling the field, but MLS gave acouple of runs at goal only to have the 45 minutes fall away with

all defense being the story of that half. Solid showing by the MLS, 22 layers say the pitch for the MLS,

two completely different teams per half of play, was very interesting to watch. Spurs controlled most

the match but couldn’t finish, and the MLS capitalized on their chances. Now Gold Cup, the US squad

needs help. Very inconstant play, the defense looks very confused under pressure, not like the back five

of our US women’s team. The offense just could not finish when needed, we look close to putting it

together, then falls apart. Are we going to press full field or half field, do we support the ball or run all

over the pitch. Just looked confusing the last 2 matches the US men’s team had in the Gold Cup.

TheSoccerInfo believes they will put it together soon, you can see the pieces, and the puzzle will be

solved soon. Come on boys, red, white, n blue blood all the way. Watch some video of the MLS

All Stars win helps US forget about Gold Cup and let’s get ready for World Cup 2018.
