NCAA College Championship Soccer Programs

Notre Dame 2013 ncaa champs

NCAA college championship soccer programs all

start with three things, dedication, hard work, and

team work at the highest level. You would have thought

gone were the years of one program dominating all of

the other teams like St. Louis University Billikens did

from 1959 to 1973 with winning 10 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championships, but now the Virginia Cavaliers

have just won their 7th NCAA title after being unstoppable in the early 90’s and now possibly starting

another run. Only Indiana University has one more Men’s title with 8 championships behind their run

in late 90’s thru 2004 and then adding one more in 2012. Notre Dame picked up their first title in 2013

and UCLA, Maryland and North Carolina always seem to be in the mix for being in the top 10 NCAA

challengers for the men’s championship. Notre Dame had a great year in 2013 and one of the greatest

quotes Coach Bobby Clark ever gave his team was just before the championship match when he said,

“fellas I got a text from an old coaching friend I have, who has won a few championships in his time”.

He said, “Go Play The Game, Not The Occasion”, that text was from Sir Alex Ferguson,

one the highest winning percentages of any coach/manager alive today. What great class for any coach

or player, keep your emotions in check and just go play the game. There is a reason you are there, and

be grateful you even have the chance, most don’t. There will be bumps in the road, and its next man up

for those who get injured, that’s what team is all about in a championship run. When it comes to

championship dominance in NCAA soccer the North Carolina Women’s team holds no competitors.

From 1982 to 2012 the lady Tar Heels have claimed “21 Titles” and are almost always in the mix for

top ten in the nation every year. However two clubs claimed the title in the last two years with growing

quality soccer programs, UCLA ladies took the title in 2013 and last year the Florida State Seminoles

brought home the hard wear with a 1-0 stunner over a tough Virginia Cavaliers squad. Funny how the

hottest teams in NCAA soccer both women’s and men’s right now are Virginia, UCLA, and North

Carolina, success is contagious. Watch some videos below of NCAA college championship soccer programs, and always play til the last whistle.

Georgetown And Indiana Win To Move On To The College Cup Finals 2012

Georgetown and Indiana win to move on to the College Cup Finals 2012 after two exciting matches.

Maryland got all they could handle with a red hot Hoya squad, and Creighton could not get through

the Indiana defense. Georgetown’s coach Brian Wiese thought Tomas Gomez came up big when the

Hoyas needed it most. Hoya Steve Neumann, put in a hat trick for Georgetown to bring them to victory.

Maryland come back from a 3-1 deficit to tie at 4 goals each, penalty kicks were the only way to get

a winner. That’s when Jimmy Nealis made the final shot for Georgetown putting them up 4-3 in pks.

Gomez the Hoya goalkeeper, saved two shots of 5 to bring Georgetown to the Final match Sunday.

Indiana kept Creighton’s high powered offense with a 1-0 shut out and a trip to the College Cup

Championship round. Hoosier Goalkeeper Luis Soffner and the Indiana defense had an awesome match.

Coach Todd Yeagley was so glad to see freshman Femi Hollinger-Janzen step up and tuck away the game winning goal.
