Indiana Wins NCAA Mens Soccer Title For The 8th Time

Indiana Wins NCAA Mens Soccer Title for the 8th time beating Georgetown 1-0 in a huge defensive

battle on Dec. 9th, 2012 College Cup Final in Hoover, AL. Both teams were red hot coming into the final

match, with Georgetown in a penalty kick off win and Indiana knocking off a tough Creighton team.

Coach Todd Yeagley was so proud of this squad bringing the Cup back to Indiana University for the

Eighth time in their successful team history. Senior Goalkeeper Luis Soffner was on top of his game,

not allowing any goals in two matches, giving the IU offense every chance to seal the victories. In

the Championship Game, it was Junior Nikita Kotlov who put in the 63rd minute off of a centered

head ball to tuck in the victory. The whole IU defense was on top billing all weekend, dialing up two

shutouts to bring home the NCAA Div. 1 Mens Championship. TheSoccerInfo congratulates the victors.

a winner. That’s when Jimmy Nealis made the final shot for Georgetown putting them up 4-3 in pks.

Gomez the Hoya goalkeeper, saved two shots of 5 to bring Georgetown to the Final match Sunday.

Indiana kept Creighton’s high powered offense with a 1-0 shut out and a trip to the College Cup

Championship round. Hoosier Goalkeeper Luis Soffner and the Indiana defense had an awesome match.

Coach Todd Yeagley was so glad to see freshman Femi Hollinger-Janzen step up and tuck away the game winning goal.
