MLS All Stars Win Helps US Forget About Gold Cup

MLS All Star Game 2015  MLS All Stars win helps US forget about Gold Cup and the disaster

of the US men’s team trying to find their stride.

On July 29th in Commerce City Colorado, before a packed crowd of over 19,000,

to watch the 2015 MLS All Stars take on an

English Premier League favorite Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have been playing some preseason

matches here in the states and were a good match for our MLS band of rag tags. The MLS held

their own in the first half, with many good chances and Kaka making things happen for the MLS.

David Villa was magical with a great corner kick that ended in a PK for the MLS, then taking on a

well struck cross from Kaka, Villa redirected it into the back of the net for a 2 – 0 lead for MLS only 30

minutes into the match. Nick Rimando was the real man of the match this night, I know people

love giving it to offensive style of players, but Rimando stood on his head to use a hockey term.

Three huge saves from Rimando and many more he made look easy, but Rimando kept Harry Kane

and a well-balanced Spurs team out of the net til 37th minute, when Matt Besler fell down and Harry

Kane unleashed a rocket that most keepers won’t have even touched. Second half was mostly Spurs

controlling the field, but MLS gave acouple of runs at goal only to have the 45 minutes fall away with

all defense being the story of that half. Solid showing by the MLS, 22 layers say the pitch for the MLS,

two completely different teams per half of play, was very interesting to watch. Spurs controlled most

the match but couldn’t finish, and the MLS capitalized on their chances. Now Gold Cup, the US squad

needs help. Very inconstant play, the defense looks very confused under pressure, not like the back five

of our US women’s team. The offense just could not finish when needed, we look close to putting it

together, then falls apart. Are we going to press full field or half field, do we support the ball or run all

over the pitch. Just looked confusing the last 2 matches the US men’s team had in the Gold Cup.

TheSoccerInfo believes they will put it together soon, you can see the pieces, and the puzzle will be

solved soon. Come on boys, red, white, n blue blood all the way. Watch some video of the MLS

All Stars win helps US forget about Gold Cup and let’s get ready for World Cup 2018.

Setting Up Other Players And Space Awareness

Setting up other players and space awareness is one of the best characteristics Team USA shows both

on the Mens and Women’s squad. After both US teams have beaten Mexico this month, each of them

showed how to use all the players strengths to get the victories need to advance. In the case of the

men’s team, this 2-0 victory gave them a birth in the 2014 World Cup hosted by Brazil. The women’s

victory was a show of their international dominance and how unselfish their play is involving all members

of their squad. Case in point, watch how Abby Wambach sets up a fellow teammate for a strike on goal

because Abby’s position took her away from a good shot. Which brings up a good rule for all players,

the best player for a shot is usually some one behind you, so having good space awareness and

communication, a better shot can be set up. Many coaches call this a back set or leaving the ball as it

runs through the defense. Also watch Clint Dempsey slighty touch a ball that Landon Donovan puts

away. Sydney Leroux proves the old adage, never give up on a run to goal, you never know when you

will be rewarded with an easy tap in goal, which always counts in the stat book. Four goals in

40 minutes of play, Leroux made Mexico look like they were standing still. Remember, lay it back to

your closest teammate, many times they will have the best crack at putting a quality shot on goal.

Head the ball down like Eddie Johnson does on the first goal against team Mexico, these are little tips

that go a long way in winning soccer. Watch these video’s looking for setting up other players and

space awareness while getting that victory for your squad. Also, look for a young Landon Donovan in 2004 match. [Read more…]

US Men’s Soccer Team Win 3 In A Row Moving Towards WC 2014

Altidore And Dempsey 2013

US Men’s soccer team win 3 in a row moving towards WC 2014, with a strong defense and multiple

shut-outs, Team USA is one step closer to Brazil 2014 World Cup. The men’s team just beat Honduras

1-0 with Jozy Altidore tucking one away for the men in blue n white. Tim Howard and the defensive back

four are shutting down these international matches making it very hard to score. Clint Dempsey seems

to be johnny on the spot to put away game winners as he did in the May Costa Rica match, which also

ended 1-0 USA. Spacing and just looking for that bounce was the game plan for team USA during that

snow storm in Denver. Mexico’s match was a huge defensive battle for both clubs ending in an 0-0 draw

and atleast one point for team USA to put towards Brazil 2014 WC qualifications. Even Germany saw

how strong the US can be in a friendly match in early June, fireworks for the US with four goals against the G men. [Read more…]

US Mens Soccer Team Loses To Honduras 2-1

Tim Howard US Mens Soccer Goalie

US Mens Soccer Team loses to Honduras 2-1 in a World Cup qualifying match Feb. 6th.

Clint Dempsey’s goal was not enough to carry the red, white, and blue of the US squad. This

Dempsey goal give him 31 total World Cup match play goals jumping above Brian McBride who

had 30 in his great career. Both offense and defense for the US squad looked a bit flat in Honduras.

The bicycle kick goal 4 minutes after the US scored really took the wind out of defense, as Honduras

seemed to play with more energy than the Yankees from the North. Next match, Costa Rica March

22nd at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.  See the highlights below.

US Mens Soccer Team loses to Honduras 2-1, hope they make World Cup, I know they will….
